After months having our stocks of Uncommon Thread yarns super low, we finally refilled our shelves with some gorgeous Everyday Sport and BFL Fingering. Started in 2010, the Uncommon Thread is a Brighton based company specialising in hand-dyed yarn. Minimising their carbon print is a big part of the company’s ethos so they have adapted their dyeing process consequently and even their labels are made from 100% post consumer waste! So if you’re after ethical, locally sourced yarn, The Uncommon Thread should be right up your street.

Not only their yarn are of very high quality but their colours palette is absolutely amazing. Shades on offer are rich and varied, ranging from muted greys, browns and pastels to bright, eye catching pinks, purples, oranges and yellows.

Those of you who are interested in ancient British breed of sheep will certainly value the quality of a yarn like the BFL Fingering. Made of 100% British Blue Faced Leicester fleece, it is both soft and strong, two quality very much sought for in a yarn. The Everyday Sport on the other hand is a round merino yarn, really bouncy and as it is superwash so can be machine washed on a very gentle wool cycle.  However to prolong the life of your knitwear and preserve the intensity of the colours, we would always recommend hand washing over over machine washing.

Until Next Time… Happy Knitting!
