I’m a Mexican new knitter in Brighton. I was very happy to discover this little place as soon as I moved here. I had never knitted before, but I was curious so I decided to book this beginners course on Saturday mornings. The class is small and it takes place in a lovely comfortable room in the shop. The teacher is friendly, clear and the class is well structured. She knows a lot about knitting and is happy to answer all your questions and patiently repeat the exercises as many times as necessary. The materials are very good quality and the colours are beautiful. During the three sessions of this course you learn the basics and get to knit a small project. You feel you’ve become a knitter from week one. They also invited me to their weekly knitting group on Thursday evenings. This is the perfect place to practice what you learn in the classes and get all the materials you need. You also meet lovely people and get a lot of new ideas and inspiration for your next project with them. On top of that, Kate kindly welcomes you every class with tea, coffee and biscuits! The perfect way to start my weekend and my knitting journey 🙂 I’m hoping to learn more and hopefully create some Mexican inspired items soon. Thanks YAK!

I loved taking the knitting course for beginners. It is a great, calming way to begin your Saturday. It was a small group in the cosy, little shop and the teacher Dani was lovely, patient and knowledgeable. The only thing I wish was different, is I could have used an additional Saturday morning class (3 classes instead of 2) to finish learning the skills needed to complete the mitts and become a bit more confident. Albeit I could just be an exceptionally slow learner but I would have loved an additional Saturday with support to help build up my beginners skills. I would definitely sign up for another class though!

I was a total beginner before going into this class – with Dani’s patient and attentive teaching I had picked up the skills I needed to knit a pair of lovely mitts both flat and in the round, as well as learning how to stitch seams together and weave in ends. The environment is fun and relaxed in the shop and I highly recommend this for anyone who wants to learn to knit from scratch!
