Intro to Colourwork

This 3 hr class gives beginners a chance to try out colourwork under expert guidance.

Our resident colourwork mitten maker, Suzanne, will provide you with a simple pattern so you can make your first colourwork swatch in the round. Learning the essential techniques including using two colours at the same time, understanding colour dominance and getting the tension right. There will be an opportunity to play with colour and then work up a simple chart. This class will give you the confidence and skills to develop your own colour work charts or to begin to tackle more complex colour work patterns.

This class is suited to knitters who can knit, purl, cast on, cast off. Confident beginners who have mastered the beginner skills will be considered. Get in contact!
You don’t need to be able to knit in the round but this would be a benefit.
Suzanne will also help with developing techniques such as magic loop, using two circulars or working on double pointed needles
Patterns and yarn will be picked out in the first session. Participants will receive 10% off materials for the class bought at YAK.

Materials (all available at YAK):
3mm needles
Jamieson and Smith (at least two colours)
Notepad and pencil

Led by artist and knitter Suzanne Stallard, she has knitted countless items for herself and her family over the years. She knows every pitfall that can occur so will be on guard to stop you falling in one!
