A Workhorse Yarn

The perfect work horse yarn and a YAK team favourite, Gilliatt is soft and bouncy woollen spun yarn made from 100% European merino wool and is a blend of white French merino and black Portuguese merino.

This worsted weight yarn has a good stitch definition and a sticky handle which makes it suitable for all sorts of projects. Cables, stranded colourwork, lace, you name it – Gilliatt can do it all!

Like all woollen spun yarn Gilliatt is lofty and warm. It blooms and softens after washing and wearing beautifully. A great choice for cosy winter jumpers, hats and scarves.

50% of the merino wool comes from certified organic flocks raised by transhumance – an ancient practice in which flocks are moved from one grazing ground to another flowing a seasonal cycle. The rest of their fleece is sources from small traditional farms chosen for their respect for animal welfare.

De Rerum Natura carries all manufacturing stages in a short circuit to insure traceability. For Gilliatt the fleeces are scoured in Belgium and Italy before being sent to France for spinning and dyeing.
