A Gift Guide for Knitters and Crocheters

Have you made your Christmas wishlists yet? Have you done any Christmas shopping yet? I haven’t. So to help you along, and myself for that matter, I have put together a round up of wonderful gift ideas any knitter or crocheter would love to receive.

Knitters gift guide, christmas,

1.  Sirka® Counter

This amazingly innovative tool has become a firm favourite of many knitters since it’s release by Grellow & Gray. Untangle the instructions of your pattern by using the counter to keep track of up to three counts at once. Never again will you come back to a project and have to spend the first half an hour working out where in the pattern you are up to. Back in July we spoke to Sara from Grellow & Gray about how her invention came about, read about what went into the Sirka’s invention.

2. Zauberball

The not so traditional sock present.  Choosing yarn for someone else is hard. Knowing which colours people like  is especially hard, they might say they like purple but will they like that purple? I have always been of the opinion that socks can and should be as bright as possible. The most anyone is going to see is a sneaky peak so be as brazen as you like. The colour range of the Zauberball sock yarn is just brilliant. Long self striping repeats knit up into unique colour ways. No one else will be getting socks like this for Christmas!

3. Yarn Pyramid Print

This print would make a great Christmas gift for anyone who is interested in natural fibres. The tongue in cheek print is reminiscent of old educational food pyramid posters. Hand printed in the USA using a hand cranked letter press onto ecru Crane & Co cotton card stock, the quality is second to none. Designed by Karen from Fringe Association we chatted to her on the blog last summer about her journey into product design.

4. Yarn Ball Stitch Markers

These super cute stitch markers are shaped like miniature yarn balls. They will keep any knitter or crocheter on track with where they are in their pattern while keeping them smiling too.

5. Sumptuous Lantern Lights Kit

A match made in heaven, Sumptuous DK, a wonderful blend of merino, alpaca and silk and the Lantern Lights hat pattern by Joji Locatelli. This kit would make a great Christmas gift for someone who knows and loves Joji’s patterns or for anyone who is yet to try one. The yarn is beautifully soft with a lovely drape. Watch the little lantern lights appear while knitting this sweet lace pattern which lets the yarn shine. You can still read the chat we had with Joji last month about where she gets her inspiration from

6. ChiaoGoo Interchangeable Needle Set

Looking for a Christmas present which will actually make life easier and dare I say, better for your knitting loved one? These interchangeable sets by ChiaoGoo are our favourite needles at YAK and we think they are the best on the market. Smooth sharp tips with a seamless join to sturdy nylon covered steel wires. The set also comes with stitch markers, a needle gauge, cable connectors and stoppers. This is the perfect gift and a real investment for any serious knitter. Once you’ve used ChiaoGoo needles you’ll never want to use anything else. The sets come in 3 sizes, please see the product page for details. We also have the sets in bamboo.

7. Soak

Taking care of our knits is so important. The time and effort it takes to create a garment or accessory is epic, each stitch holds a memory of the time when you knit it. So to preserve the memories and your knitwear for as long as possible making sure you wash them with the right product is very important. Soak fabric wash has a unique no rinse formula which is gentle on your delicates. The scents are made with fabric friendly ingredients that revitalise fibres so that they look great and last longer. They come in 2 sizes and lots of different scents, please see the product page for more details.
