I confess – this isn’t quite the update it was supposed to be.
You know when you just know what’s about to happen but aren’t quite sure what you can do to manoeuvre things into a different outcome, and aren’t quite sure if you’d want to anyway. When I ordered my first batch of Life in the Long Grass I was cautious as I always am when ordering new yarn, I don’t order too much because what if no-one likes it, what if that one skein I’d seem was a fluke beauty? Deep down however I knew this yarn was going to go down a storm and when I opened the box I had no doubt. Light, bright semi solids, fun, vibrant dappled variegated, powerful hand dyed yarn! Which is why when I put it out in the shop half of it sold in 2 days. All of the variegated has gone. All before I even managed to take pictures let alone get it up online. So for this I apologise to all you online shoppers.
The base is a 4ply merino nylon blend perfect for socks, baby garments, light sweaters and just about anything really. These are the semi solid colours which are left but rest assured I have made a big order for more which should be making its way over from Ireland next month. I solemnly swear to get it up online and shout about it on all platforms so no-one misses out.
A perfect accompaniment to this yarn is the wonderful new book by Rachel Coopey, Coop Knits Sock Vol. 2 which is now in stock and up online! The book contains 12 new patterns of wonderfully wearable socks sized for both men and women. Plus it includes tutorials for techniques such as kitchner stitch, afterthought heels and long tail cast on.
