Barcombe Romneys – Black Welsh Mountain x Romney DK
This yarn has never left Sussex!
Barcombe Romneys, headed by Shepard Susanna Steer, is a small-scale enterprise working to produce the highest standard of wool from a small flock of mostly Romney shearlings and ewes but now with some beautiful Romney x Black Welsh Mountain sheep adding to her colour range. Susanna’s aim is to work locally and stay sensitive to animal welfare, nature conservation, and sustainability.
This beautiful semi worsted spun DK yarn is the wonderful outcome. It has been carefully spun at Diamond Fibres, a small mill in East Sussex just 40 minutes from the farm where the wool is produced. It is lustrous and has a lot of drape making it a great for making garments and accessories.
The batch we have right now is from the 2019 clip and is all teg wool, the sheep’s first shearing. We also have a 100% Romney DK from Barcombe Romneys
