Barcombe Romneys – 100% Romney DK
£22.00
This yarn has never left Sussex!
Barcombe Romneys, headed by Shepard Susanna Steer, is a small-scale enterprise working to produce the highest standard of wool from a small flock of Romney shearlings and ewes, with an aim to work locally and stay sensitive to animal welfare, nature conservation, and sustainability.
This beautiful semi worsted spun DK yarn is the wonderful outcome. It has been carefully spun at Diamond Fibres, a small mill in East Sussex just 40 minutes from the farm where the wool is produced. It is lustrous and has a lot of drape making it a great for making light garments and accessories. Want to dabble in hand-dying? Thanks to its natural lustre this yarn will catch dyes with a lot of vibrancy and sheen.
The batch we have right now is from the 2019 clip and is all teg wool, the sheep’s first shearing. We also have a gorgeous new Romney x Black Welsh Mountain DK from Barcombe Romneys.
