Jumper knitting is the best! Learn to make the jumper or cardigan of your dreams in this all levels garment knitting class. 

Knitting a jumper for the first time – or the second, or third – can be a scary prospect but with expert guidance you’ll learn everything you need to know and you will end up with a jumper that will last you a lifetime.

What will I learn?

Garment knitting can be daunting. How do you make sure its going to fit? Bottom up or top down? And what are short rows?! 

In our jumper knitting garment class you will start right at the beginning. Dani will help you pick a pattern and yarn based on your preferred fit and skill level. She will then walk you though all aspects of the jumper (or other garment of your choice). Skills learned could include,  

– choosing the right pattern & materials
– gauge swatches
– picking up stitches
– neck bands
– sleeve construction
– short rows
– sewing up
– pattern reading
– fixing mistakes
– plus anything else that comes up in your chosen pattern

How long is the class?

This jumper knitting class is taught over 6 sessions. Each session is 2 hours long so the total teaching time is 12 hours. 

Classes are held on Sundays 2-4 pm. 

Who is this class for?

This course is designed for people with some knitting experience.

Participants must be able to cast on, knit, purl and rib with confidence, this class is  not  for beginner knitters. You don’t need to have knitted a jumper before but you  must  have completed several projects before attending. Please note this class is for adults only. 

Are materials included?

Materials are not included but will be available to purchase on the day at a 15% discount. Patterns and yarn will be picked out in the first session.

Dani Sunshine is a local knitwear designer and knitting teacher with a passion for pretty yarn and interesting construction. She specialises in designing classic garment styles with modern techniques. You’ll find her anywhere she can take small children & her knitting.

Cancellation Policy 

A full refund can be given if a cancellation is made up to 10 days prior to the event, after this time a refund can only be given if the spot can be filled by another student. This includes in the event of illness, personal circumstances or any other situation which is out of YAK’s control. These rules are also applicable to course transferals – you must cancel up to 10 days prior to the event in order to be moved onto another course. 

We reserve the right to cancel a class in unusual circumstances. We try to avoid this wherever possible, but sometimes it cannot be avoided. In this situation, of course, a full refund will be given.
