St James Cap – Francesca Hughes

St. James is a cap inspired by a Breton watch cap John Arbon bought whilst holidaying in France. It was such a hit, Dan & Emily had to have one too. Dan, my husband, lives in hats, so here we are; now he can have one in every colour.
This unisex hat has a snug fit to the head, with a folded brim for sturdiness and no fussing with stitch details. The crown is simply decreased and secured.
It should become your go to hat to accompany you on seaside rambles and treacherous adventures which normally involve hopping fences, long short cuts, getting your feet wet and almost always ending with a pint in hand.

Size – to fit head circumference: Baby (Toddler, Child, Teen, Adult 1, Adult 2)
35.5 (41.5, 45.5, 51, 56, 61) cm / 14 (16, 17, 20, 22, 24)”

Francesca and Daniel wear Adult 1.

Yarn: DK / double knitting

Retrosaria Brusca would be prefect to replicate the slightly rustic look of a watch cap. Or why not go for a complete different look by pairing a 4ply with a fluffy lace weight?

The yardage below corresponds to the number of balls of John Arbon Textiles Devonia  – the yarn this pattern was originally designed in – needed to complete that project. If you wish to substitute it for another yarn and need help working out quantities please do get in touch.
