Studio Donegal – Darnie
£12.99
If you love the Soft Donegal, you will go crazy for Darnie. Made of 100% lambswool this 4ply tweed is incredible soft, lofty and warm. And with a yardage of 410 meters per skein Darnie goes a very long way. Like its big sister it comes in a beautiful range of speckled colourways. Pair it with a plain stockinette pattern to let the speckles run the show, add texture to go for that traditional fishermen look or mix and match multiple colourways to create a beautiful piece of stranded knitting.
Studio Donegal is based in Kilcar, a town located in the picturesque county of Donegal, Republic of Ireland. Kilcar has a long-standing tradition of hand-weaving and woollen textiles dating as far back as the late 1700’s. In the early 1970s commercial hand-weaving completely ceased giving place to the more profitable power looms. In the late 1970’s Studio Donegal was founded to revive and to preserve the craft. Today Studio Donegal is one of the last remaining mills specialising in the production of hand-woven clothes, garments and yarns.
