Save the Date | Yarn Shop Day | 6th May

Created at the initiative of Let’s Knit, Yarn Shop Day is a yearly event aiming to promote local bricks and mortar yarn shops across the country. This year it will take place on the 6th of May and given the nature of the event it seemed logical that we should promote some of the local talent closest to YAK. For the occasion we have invited dyer Amy Florence and knitwear designer Dani Sunshine, to showcase their beautiful yarns and samples.

Based in Bexhill, East Sussex,  Amy Florence is an independent dyer who creates beautiful variegated yarns in lace, fingering and DK weight. Established since 2015, Amy has an impressive following on Instagram and Etsy where she sells most of her yarns under the brand Stranded Dyeworks. Attracted by her original colour palette and blend of fibres, we thought Yarn Shop Day would be a great opportunity for us to discover her vibrant selection of hand-dyed yarns. Interested in learning a little more about her work? You can also follow her through the Stranded Podcast

Our wonderful knitting teacher Dani Sunshine will also be exhibiting some of her samples on the day. Dani designs patterns for both adults and children, recognisable for their combination of elegant shapes, interesting construction details and a subtle use of colour. We’re huge fans of Dani’s designs, and considering how many positives reactions her patterns receive on Ravelry, we thought it likely that most of our customers would be as enthusiastic as we are to get to see more of her work in real life!

Both Dani’s samples and Amy’s yarns will be on display for one day only, so be sure to make it to the shop on the 6th of May between 10:00 am and 6:00pm.

We’re looking forward to see you on the 6th of May, and of course until next time… Happy Knitting!
