Beach tank, jess schreibstein, wool and the gang, shiny happy cotton, malabrigo lace

This past month, each member of YAK has introduced you to their summer holliday project. Eugenie has finished hers a little while ago and is ready to give you some feedback.

Beach tank, jess schreibstein, wool and the gang, shiny happy cotton, malabrigo laceBeing fairly new to the world of knitting – even though my Nan taught me basic knitting at the age of 6, I only really came back to it in January – I had great fun knitting the Beach Tank. Its simple design makes it such a quick project to knit, I almost completed the first half when I landed in Biarritz. By the time I left, the second half was nearly finished and I just had to seam the two pieces together when I came back to Brighton. It was so pleasurable to see how quickly everything came together!

Beach tank front backAs the Beach Tank is designed to be slightly oversized, I chose to cast on the XS to give it a tighter fit and cropped 1.5 inches off the body length to make it a bit shorter. Consequently I only had to use just over 1 and a half balls of the Shiny Happy Cotton and half a skein of the Malabrigo lace. Due to its short yardage and the fact it is so quick to make, the Beach Tank would actually be a good project to take on if you want to make a present for someone but are working on a short deadline.

Overall I am really pleased with the result, it looks exactly how I wanted, is extremely light weight and airy. I have also been test-driving it in hot weather, it’s real pleasure to wear. I would definitely consider make myself another one next summer.

Until Next Time… Happy Knitting!
