There is nothing better than knitting socks and there is nothing more satisfying that supporting an independent British company. West Yorkshire Spinners is very independent and very British so we are very happy to be able to support them. The fact that they also produce wonderful sock yarn is just a very happy coincidence. Based, as you might have guessed, in West Yorkshire they are one of the few remaining worsted spinning mills in the UK.
Their Signature 4ply is a tough sock yarn made up of 75% wool (35% BFL) and 25% nylon, making it great for any project which is going to face a bit of rough and tumble (I’m looking at you kiddies). It has a really great stitch definition and there are not one, not two but three colour palettes to choose from. First is the Spice Rack, 6 subtle very wearable shades.
Complimentary to the Spice Rack is the Country Bird range of variegated colours. If you like your socks stripy these are the colours for you. Better yet there is at least one colour in each bird which matches one of the Spice Rack colours so you can have complimentary solid toes, cuffs and heels if you so wish!
A lastly on a bit of a tangent, the Sweet Shop range. Bright, garish and fabulous! I have grand ideas of knitting every pair of socks in Coop Knits Socks vol. 2 each in one of these great colours.
There are definitely going to be some fun socks in my future!
