It’s an exciting week in the woolly world, it’s wool week!
The list of what is going on is seemingly endless. In Shetland it has been since the 4th October and in London since the 5th.
If you are in Shetland there are a whole host of events going on including a trunk show with Gudren Johnson, spinning sessions, an exhibition on knitwear and the oil industry, steeking workshops and lots more! The photo above was taken from the Shetland Times website showing the sea of fair isle hats at the opening event. Around the web there have been some excellent sheep photos popping up.
Louise from the Knit British blog and podcast is a Shetland resident and has posted a lovely array of photos on her blog from a tour she took around the Jamieson’s of Shetland mill. I am mega jealous and I wish all of these fun things weren’t so far away. That being said, there is plenty going on in the south too, which of course means London.
The Campaign for Wool is also hosting a huge amount of events over the week such as 3D knitting classes, meet the makers, a interiors exhibition and a Tweed Tea Party! They launched it all with a Wool Ride though London with over 300 participants.
If its complete immersion with crazy amounts of other crafty types you like then there is one other event this week that might float your boat and that is the Knitting & Stitching show at Alexandria Palace in London. Its the biggest craft show I’ve ever been to and there is definitely nothing else like it. There are always some lovely stalls there but be prepared to get your elbows out.
Is there anything wool week related going on in your area?
