Never heard of a darning mushroom before? Here is all you need to know about this clever little tool. 

Darning mushrooms are designed to have fabric very lightly stretched on top of them when mending a hole. They create a little bit of tension and curvature to stop the fabric bunching up. Essentially they provide a steady working surface to carry out your darning easily. 

Some types of fabric – like the heel of a sock – need curvature for optimal mending, making the mushroom an essential tool in your darning kit. But they are also very useful to darn other kind of garments and accessories.
