Mastering The Basics
We designed these beginner mitts with Dani Sunshine for our Learn To Knit kit for a few reasons.
Firstly: they’re a fairly small project. The temptation for a lot of aspiring knitters is to make a scarf, which although is simple to do, takes a lot of stamina! We think these mitts are a good size to learn the basics without getting burnout before finishing your first project.
Secondly: with multiple core techniques in this one small design, it’ll give you the foundation for future and more advanced projects like jumpers and cardigans.
About The Yarn

Our Learn To Knit kit comes with two balls of Hamelton Tweed 2, a chunky tweed yarn made from 90% organic wool and 10% viscose. Wool is a very warm fibre, so these mitts – although fingerless – will keep your hands toasty and warm in the cold weather.
Tweed yarns have little flecks of other colours dispersed through them. This makes for a beautiful finished fabric.
