Grow A Pair | Beginner Socks

Banish cold toes and discover how to knit the perfect pair of socks.

Using one circular needle and the magic loop method instead of the more traditional and more fiddly double pointed needles, you will learn how cast on and knit in the round; turn a heel and graft stitches together at the end for seamless toe.

You will go home with a super cute mini sock that can easily be scaled up to fit your own feet.

What will I learn?

This beginner sock knitting class will take you from cuff to toe with everything in between. To make sure all the techniques are covered you will knit a small baby sized sock. Skills you will learn include,

– knitting in the round
– magic loop
– turning a heel
– picking up stitches
– grafting the seamless toe

How long is the class?

This beginner sock class is a full day class, taught over 6 hours. You will have a break for lunch.

Who is the class for?

This course is designed for people with some knitting experience. Participants must be able to cast on, knit, purl and rib with confidence. These techniques will not be covered in the class. This class is  not  for beginner knitters. This class is for adults only.

Are materials included?

Materials are not included but will be available to purchase on the day at a 10% discount.

If you would like to bring your own materials please bring 15g of 4ply yarn and a 2.50 mm 80 cm circular needle.

Dani Sunshine is a local knitwear designer and knitting teacher with a passion for pretty yarn and interesting construction. She specialises in designing classic garment styles with modern techniques. You’ll find her anywhere she can take small children & her knitting.

Cancellation Policy

A full refund can be given if a cancellation is made up to 10 days prior to the event, after this time a refund can only be given if the spot can be filled by another student. This includes in the event of illness, personal circumstances or any other situation which is out of YAK’s control. These rules are also applicable to course transferals – you must cancel up to 10 days prior to the event in order to be moved onto another course.

We reserve the right to cancel a class in unusual circumstances. We try to avoid this wherever possible, but sometimes it cannot be avoided. In this situation, of course, a full refund will be given.
