Daruma – Genmou
£10.00
Genmou is a beautiful DK weight yarn made from 100% merino wool. Two fine threads of merino wool are twisted around a single ply of carded wool. This unusual construction makes the yarn particularly light and soft and gives it a subtle wavy finish. Genmou means raw wool in Japanese and it emulates the feeling of touching the body of a sheep.
Daruma was founded in 1901 by Chozaemon Yokota, an innovative industrialist who firmly believed in the importance of producing long lasting and high quality products. First specialised in the production of sewing thread, Daruma eventually expended to knitting and crochet yarn in the 1950s. Today Chozaemon Yokota motto’s “Price is always changing, Quality is timeless” is still at the heart of the company ethos. Daruma carries out their spinning and dyeing in Bishu, the traditional place of production of woollen fabric in Japan.
