As Soft As Raw Wool

Genmou is a beautiful DK weight
yarn made from 100% merino wool. Two fine threads of merino wool are twisted
around a single ply of carded wool. This unusual construction makes the yarn
particularly light and soft and gives it a subtle wavy finish.

Genmou means raw wool in Japanese and it emulates the feeling of touching the body of a sheep.

When it opened in 1901, Daruma first specialised in the production of sewing thread. Its founder Chozaemon Yokota strongly believed in developing high quality products and Daruma threads soon became reknown for their strength and durability.

In the 1950s they eventually widen their range to knitting and crochet yarn. More than a century layer Chozaemon Yokota motto’s  “Price is always changing, Quality is timeless” still drives the company’s business practices.

Their spinning and dyeing is carried out in Bishu, the traditional centre of production of woollen fabric in Japan.
