Terrazzo (Italian for ‘terrace’) floors inspire this beautiful DK tweed from Scheepjes. The rustic look and feel, and multi-tonal flecks mimicking the way terrazzo catches the light and intensifies colour in the sunshine.

The wide variety of colours are all tied together through their complementary, contrasting flecks. The result is a felted, tweed effect yarn with gentle stitch definition, making this yarn wonderful for colourwork, fairisle and brioche crochet.

Terrazzo is made up entirely from recycled materials, 70% mulesing-free wool and 30% viscose. The viscose provides a light weight, silky fabric feel with drape, while the wool adds a rustic look and helps with warmth.

Although the label suggests a tension of 27 stitches on 4.00 mm needles, we found that the actual tension is closer to 23 to 21 sts using 3.5 mm to 4.00 mm needles. Please make sure to always swatch before starting a new project.

Terrazzo is a wonderfully soft yarn. For her Burgos vest Kate paired it with CaMaRose Midnatssol resulting in a fabric with a beautiful halo and subtle flecks of colours.
