Here is our September Round Up highlighting some of our fave patterns that have been released this month. Although we are not sure which season we are currently in on this glorious, warm, late September day we are sharing some winter warmers so we can at least be prepared.
Ghostwood Mittens by Kiyomi Burgin are seriously cute mitts. They are a no fuss functional pair with that added detail on the top of the hand. They require a worsted weight yarn, Malabrigo Rios would be a great alternative and it comes in many autumnal colours.
Hide and Seek by Dani Sunshine is a cheerful children’s pattern, with fab sailor stripes, cable detail and pockets its the perfect throw over for a blustery day at the beach. Knit in a fingering weight yarn we would knit it in Skein Queen – Crush, with a small amount of Nylon to give it extra wear and tear. Crush has plenty of rich saturated colour’s and speckly neutrals to pair for this nautical outfit.
Ondine by Rae Gronmark are a pair of funky textured socks, the soft colour laying on top of the strong colour. The suggested yarn is Malabrigo Sock, again with a saturated main colour and a softer neutral contrast. Crush by Skein Queen is also a great alternative sock yarns. A hand dyed yarn makes for a special pair of socks.
Rejse by The Woolfolk Design Team looks to be a very snug sweater. All that rib and structure sure seams to create an interesting knit. We think it would be amazing in De Rerum Natura – Gilliat. Using Gilliat would make a bouncier firmer garment. Using Malabrigo – Rios would give your jumper superb drape and softness. Rejse should be a fun knit and will be added to my list!
Last but not least, Toph by Woolly Wormhead is an interesting head warmer for this autumn. Those leafy looking shapes created by short rows and the hats interesting construction create a great project to get warmed up for jumper knitting season! Knit this hat in John Arbon Textiles Knit by Numbers or Baa Ram Ewe Dovestone for a super cosy head.
