Can you believe its just over two weeks till Christmas! We here at the shop have started on a few Christmas knits, with the help of the Knit Night Extremities KAL and our knitting pals encouragement we are busy making gifts for our loved ones! If you need any encouragement head over to our Ravelry group where you can also join in our Extremities KAL.
And if you need an inspiration we have put together a selection of patterns which should just be achievable before Christmas Day! (Disclaimer: If you are still knitting at midnight on Christmas Eve please don’t blame us, have another port and mince pie and knit faster right? 😉 )
To kick things off Christmas themed, look at this amazing Christmas Tree Jumper! This is Julgran by Andi Satterlund. I definitely want to be wearing this whilst cooking Christmas dinner. Knit in worsted weight yarn, we would knit it in the fab punchy De Rerum Natura Gilliat green called Printemps!
This beautiful intricate and wistful shawl Sweet Clementine by Francesca Hughes, will keep you super snug all year round. It could be knit as a heirloom gift for a youngster or a shoulder warmer for a friend. We would love to see this shawl knit in The Walk Collection Delicate Merino. There are plenty of soft colours to pair with punchy colours.
This simple, but incredibly effective shawl would be a fabulous quick knit. Millwater by Beth Kling only takes a couple of balls of Worsted weight yarn, so great for stash diving. Look at all that satisfying garter stitch!
KNOP by Olga Buraya-Kefelian is an inventive fisherman’s rib hat, it comes in one size, and thanks the rib works over a range of different sizes. The brim can be worn folded up or down. Using one skein of Worsted weight yarn, again this could be a stash diving project to be paired with Millwater above!
Kaerlig by Ysolda Teague are cute mitts, which should be pretty quick to whip up for those last min gifts! Finger less mitts are so versatile and we love the clever shaping and use of garter and rib. Ysolda suggests using semi solid dyed yarn to make the colour and pattern sing!
This big blanket scarf will certainly keep you warm, and features lots of pattern and texture to make the straight scarf interesting to knit. We think this scarf is a perfect unisex accessory. Knitable by an adventurous beginner, the scarf can be knit in Worsted weight or DK weight yarn. The patterns are taken from traditional Guernseys.
French Cancan by Mademoiselle C features garter stitch, a french braid suspended between simple lace sections makes this shawl very feminine and beautiful. The knitted on border could be knit in a contrast colour. The shawl is knit using DK weight yarn.
Isn’t this forest panoramic hat beautiful! Cleverly used yarn makes it looks like dusk is approaching and the sun is setting just behind the colour work trees. Alaska by Camille Descoteaux is her first pattern released on Ravelry and isn’t it awesome!? The contrast colour pom pom on the top is just perfect too.
Until Next Time… Happy Knitting!
