I hinted/spilt the beans on this event in my pattern round up for May at the beginning of the month. But it is now time for an official announcement, one you will already have heard from Thea Colman if you follow her blog or Ravelry group. Thea Colman, designer behind Baby Cocktails will be visiting the UK during July and will be stopping off at YAK for… cocktails of course!
Cocktail hour will be from 4pm-6pm on Saturday 11th July.
Thea has released not 1, not 2 but 3 patterns in conjunction with her visit! All of which, along with tons of her other design samples, will be at YAK on the 11th July. It’s always great to see samples in the flesh, try them on, and I can’t wait to take full advantage of Thea being here to get advice on sizing and yarn suggestions.
Thea’s new patterns…
Dubbonet, is a delightful cardigan with some really sweet details. Pockets for one! Got to love a pocket especially with a contrast inside. It is knitted in Eden Cottage Yarns Oakworth DK, a gorgeous squishy 100% Polwath wool. We’re running low on Oakworth DK in the shop but Victoria from Eden Cottage Yarns will be bringing lots down with here for the event. Another person I can’t wait to hang out with!
Brighton Cowl was named such in celebration of Thea’s visit to Brighton. It has a combination of simple garter stitch and cute cabled leaves. Thea recommends knitting it in a worsted weight yarn from The Uncommon Thread. We stock The Uncommon Thread Everyday Worsted which would work wonderfully.
London mitts, cute, practical fingerless mitts with a gorgeous cable detail. A perfect project for a decadent skein. Again these are knitted in The Uncommon Thread, I feel like there might be a little love affair going on…
Thea is currently hosting a knit-a-long to celebrate her trip and new pattern releases. There is still time to join in over on the London Calling thread in the Baby Cocktails Ravelry group. You have until the end of June to knit ANY Baby Cocktail pattern and post a picture in the thread. Those coming to cocktail hour at YAK will have until 11th July when you must wear your creation. Throughout the KAL Thea will be sending out prizes and at YAK there will be a special prize draw for those who have brought along their finished object.
I am so excited for this event, cocktail hour to me means socialising which is one of my favourite things about the knitting community. I hope you’ll be able to join us on the 11th July!
Can’t wait! Lovely knitting and cocktails all at the same time – could be dangerous though 🙂
