Silky Soft
This beautiful yarn combines silk and merino into a singly-ply DK, making for a light yarn with incredible drape. The fibre combination is soft and smooth, making it a wonderful option for next-to-your-skin garments. The two fibres take dye a little differently, adding a richness and depth of colour in each skein, and the silk content gives the yarn a subtle sheen.

Malabrigo is a family-owned company started by two brothers in law in their kitchen and with their dye pots.Â
Based in Uruguay, Malabrigo specialise in hand-dyed yarns and they also produce their own unique bases. Some of the fleece used comes from their own flock of merino sheep who are grazed near their headquarters in Montevideo. The rest is sourced from Uruguayan farms where sheep are allowed to graze free-range through the hills and are herded by ranchers. Please also note that mulesing is not practiced in Uruguay.Â
In 2017 Malabrigo started using renewable wood pellets as their main source of energy.Â

More From Malabrigo
Please note, each skein of Malabrigo’s hand dyed yarns is unique.Â
Colours can vary even within dye lots and quite dramatically between dye lots.Â
To insure random colour distribution in big projects we recommend working from two skeins at once, alternating every few rows.Â
