A plethora of lovely pattern released in March for your knitting pleasure.
First up is a lovely child pattern for boys or girls. Twisty Raglan by Kate Oates
This chunky raglan jumper will knit up in no time. Paired with Malabrigo Chunky there are lots of great colour combinations you could go for, bright and loud or more subtle. Or go for one all over colour if your child only has one favourite! Published in the book Knit’s for Boys which includes loads of great pattern, from pjs to bow ties this is a really cute book which I’m positive girls would love too. Malabrigo Chunky is super soft so will be kind to the skin
Next up is Feather & Fan-tastic by Dieuwke van Mulligen.
A lovely light jumper perfect for spring days. I love the fan lace detailing on the yoke, shoulders and cuffs, it’s feminine but not over the top. I’ve paired it with our exclusive colour Fe2 O3 in the BFL fingering by The Uncommon Thread. Mostly because I’m in love with this colour but also because the Blue Faced Leicester has a wonderful stitch definition and the depth of colour will make the plain stocking stitch body pop to life.
Another delicate spring knit now (I’m willing spring, can you tell?), Teakwood by Cecily Glowik MacDonald.
The all over lace pattern on the front makes this quite girly looking, especially when you wear it with a dress like in the sample photo. I think if you instead paired it with jeans it wouldn’t look quite so “lacey” if that’s not your style. That being said I really like the uniformity of the lace and it looks like it would be quite a simple repeat and I love the cable detail on the button band. I’ve paired it with Shilasdair Luxury 4ply which is a wonderful blend of wool, angora, camel and cashmere. It is lovely and soft but is really durable and wears wonderfully over time just getting softer and softer.
Last but not least a shawl, Filmstrip by Suvi Simola.
This is the first time I’ve come across Suvi Simola but looking through her back catalogue of designs I know it won’t be the last. Filmstrip is a simple looking garter stitch shawl with fun colour work detailing. I think this would be a great project for a beginner knitter wanting to learn some new techniques. I’ve paired it with Dye for Yarn Merino Silk. A glorious blend this yarn will give the shawl a wonderful weight to it.
