We may have, ever so slightly, gotten a little bit balaclava obsessed over here at YAK recently! This winter accessory is the newest trend and we’ve been seeing so many amazing designs out there. To celebrate our new favourite item we thought we’d run a fun little KAL, whilst also sharing some amazing inspiration to show you how versatile these winter accessories can be!
Trust us, by the end of this blog post you’ll be wanting a balaclava too!
The Intarsia Balaclava by Anna Husemann is playful take on the balaclava trend with geometrical shapes created by intarsia – a great way to use up some of your stash!
For a classic balaclava with a bit of fluff then the Hilly Hood by Anne Ventzel is the pattern to go for! Knitted from the top down with a DK wool held with a lace weight mohair this hood will definitely keep you snuggly and warm.
Lewsky, by Kiyomi Burgin and Sachiko Burgin from the book Moon and Turtle is a classic hood with the option of adding and extra inside layer to wear pulled over your nose for extra warmth – perfect for those who want a more subtle balaclava look.
For a two-in-one hat and balaclava combination with a lovely colourwork head go for Ronja by Arne & Carlos. The ribbed layer rolls up to become an extra wide hat brim to keep you warm no matter how you decide to style it.
