Please note, we no longer stock Crazy Sexy Wool.
We know many of you will be happy to hear that we finally filled up our stocks with some Crazy Sexy Wool by Wool and the Gang. With its yardage of 81 meter per 200 gr and an average gauge of 8 stitches per 10 cm, the Crazy Sexy Wool definitely falls into the category of super chunky yarn. Made of a combination of Andean sheep wool and single ply structure, it is extremely soft and pleasant to touch.
The advantage of using such a thick yarn is that any project would come together very quickly. This can be especially satisfying for beginner knitters or anyone looking for quick results. Obviously it is also easier to see what’s going on a large scale like this, which again can be quite helpful for young knitters.
To see how it would look like once knitted, I made The Big Hat by Sheep & Stitch. Only one ball of CSW and roughly 3 hours of knitting are required to complete this project. As I said, we’re talking about super quick knitting here. The pattern is very easy to follow; a bit of ribbing, a bit of stockinette, few K2tog decrease, a pompom and you’re done! The CSW is slightly thicker that the recommended yarn, therefore the hat is a bit more dense than it should be and so warmer too, which is always a plus with winter hats.
If you’re looking for a striking winter accessory, warm, requiring a minimum of effort to make, I’d strongly advise you to try this pattern. And cherry on top of the cake, it is available for free on Sheep & Stitch website!
Until Next Time… Happy Knitting!
