Happy holidays from all of us at YAK! We are all off travelling to see family and friends this weekend and take a much needed break so I’d like to take this moment to thank all of you for your support this year. At many levels the past 12 months have been tough. Against the loss of many great minds, it seems we only received increasing political tensions, growing military conflicts and ever more alarming stats on global warming. However, as always, it never ceases to amaze me how wonderful the knitting community is. It’s a pleasure to be part of such an open and accepting group of people and if nothing else I hope we can set the example for tolerance and open mindedness. And of course it wasn’t all bad. Planet Earth II was amazing!
As always the start of a new year brings new hope and a chance to celebrate new beginnings so we would like to invite you to join us in a new years day cast on! The perfect time to start a new project. The 1st of January we will be casting on new projects to get us in the new year spirit.
Eugenie – Mine is going to be Atlas by Jared Flood that I’ve planed to knit in 4 different shades of Jamieson & Smith 2ply Jumper Weight. Another fellow Raveler has used the 2ply Jumper to knit Atlas in an adult size, so even though I haven’t swatched it yet, I am pretty confident it should work just fine.
Kate – I’ve had Waits by Bristol Ivy in my queue for so long! When we got the restock of The Uncommon Thread’s Everyday Sport I took one look at the Turbllion colourway and knew it would be perfect! I’ve done half a swatch (I need to go down a needle size to see if I can get a bit closer to the gauge) so I should be ready to cast of on new years day. After all my Christmas gift knitting I can’t wait to start something selfish!
If you’d like to join us in casting on on the 1st, we’ll be posting on Instagram using the hashtag #newyearcaston and also on our ravelry page. . We can’t wait to see what you’re knitting
Until then… Happy Knitting.
