Can you believe we’re already in July? As some of you are getting ready to go on holiday, you may still wonder what project to pack and what project to leave behind? I always leave with hope of getting a lot of knitting done and although it doesn’t always work as planned it’s nice to have a couple of projects to choose from to fill the downtimes. For this Round-Up we’ve selected a handful of lovely summer patterns that will instantly set the mood for your time away.
First up we have the delightful Kaga Pullover by Ririko, a v-neck pullover with a hi-lo slit hem and stitch detailing reminiscent of a Kaga (flower bud in Japanese). Knit holding one fingering yarn with one lace yarn, we recommend using CaMaRose Organic Summer Wool with Midnatssol for a summer jumper with a touch of fluff.
Summerdown by Jacki Badger is an oversized, lightweight top with a hint of lace on the centre sleeves – the perfect knit to throw over your favourite dress on a cool summer’s eve. This top can either be knit with a fingering and lace weight held together, or with a DK yarn – we think Sandnes Garn Alpakka would be a great choice for a perfectly draped knit.
This gorgeous, crochet inspired drawstring bag is the Brigitte Bag by Gregoria Fibers, made up from a charming lace pattern for the perfect bohemian summer look. Boheme by Fonty would be the perfect fit for this summer accessory, use the colour natural to recreate the original, or pick from our range of 22 colours to find a shade that suits your style!
Galdor by Marina Skua is a beautiful open cardigan with subtle colourwork detailing around the neckband and cuffs. Use Jamieson and Smith 2ply Jumper Weight to create your own wonderful steeked summer cardi – with a vast colour range the possibilities are endless.
Looking for a classic summer t-shirt with a twist? Then look no further! The Aventurine Tee by Noma Ndlovu has a dropped cable pattern and is made with a DK cotton such as MoYa DK, for a lovely, breathable summer top. We have a wide range of lovely summer tones in MoYa Dk, Lagoon would be a perfect shade match for Noma’s version!
Three socks patterns in one? Yes please! The In Bloom Sock Set by Summer Lee is all of our summer sock dreams rolled into one. Three individually intricate lace sock patterns each with detailed charts and instructions. We think Onion Nettle Sock would be great for this trio. Mix and match your colours or try a tonal collection!
Until Next Time… Happy Knitting!
