The summer holidays are here and we’ve got a pattern round up packed full of knitting projects to take away with you!
Lets kick things off with Rail Travel by yamagara, a lightweight ribbed jumper with textured stitches and stripes reminiscent of railway lines. Knit with a summer blend such as CaMaRose Organic Summer Wool for a beautifully light and soft fabric.
Everyone needs a classic t-shirt in their wardrobe and Yuria by Marianne Munier is exactly that! A classic stockinette t-shirt with a hint of lace detailing around the neckline and sleeves. The lightweight and breathable Boheme by Fonty would be a great choice for a drapey tee with great stitch definition.
Time for some crochet! Zig A Zig Ah by Lauren Willis is 2 projects in 1! The pattern contains detailed instructions for you to make either the short sleeved tee, or the long sleeved jumper version of the top. Knit in a DK weight, choose MoYa 100% Cotton for a lightweight summer version, or Sandnes Garn Merinoull for a project that will take you through to the colder months.
Whilst a shawl might not be everyone’s first thought when it comes to summer knitting, we couldn’t resist sharing this stunning work of art! Purple Flower by Marion Schlenzka is a spectacular ten colour triangular shawl which incorporates elements of ancient oriental patterns into it’s design. Choose from the extensive range of Jamieson and Smith 2ply Jumper Weight to create your own version.
We think the Simply Wave Crop Top by Qing Fibre is simply stunning! A spectacularly unique pattern which combines a 4ply yarn and a lace weight yarn in a wavy striped pattern. Try Onion Silk + Kid Mohair with Black Elephant Sock for the ultimate luxurious knit! Not a fan of a crop top? Don’t worry, there’s also a full length version called the Simply Wave Top.
The Dixie Cardigan by Karen Perry is an adorable crocheted cardigan that’s available for children aged 6 months to 8 years. This cute as a button cardi has statement puffed sleeves that compliment the more simple body. Crochet in an aran weight such as Tarma Aran for a soft and springy knit for your little one.
Sometimes a little bit of detail goes a long way, and Alps by Arella Seaton proves this with a sock pattern that includes several technique without becoming over the top. The newly restocked Mondim by Retrosaria would be a great choice for this quick knit!
Look At My Holes As Friends is the wonderful summer top collaboration between James N Watts and Jessie Maed Designs. Wear separately or layer Look At My Holes on top of the As Friends vest for a modern summer look. Both are knit in a sport weight yarn, why not try a contrasting combination of Fonty Boheme for a lightweight top to keep you cool this summer!
