Brooklyn tweed competition

There’s nothing much cuter than kids in knitwear.  We were all forced into Granny’s knitting, some of us probably more willingly than others. I am ashamed to say my memories of wearing hand knits as a child was mostly complaints of itchy wool and high necklines. What I do love about my childhood knitwear however is the photos of me in it.

American yarn brand and pattern designers Brooklyn Tweed have opened up a competition over on Instagram where you can win skeins of their American wool and patterns as prizes.  They are promoting their new kids collections of patterns by asking you to post photos on Instagram of yourself or a member of your family as a child wearing something hand knitted along with the hashtag, #tweedback.  You can find full details of the competition and what you can win here.

Not one to pass up on such a cute competition here was my post.

This is me and my Granny.  She knitted me this little apricot dress and it looks like I’m pretty happy about it.  I haven’t done so yet but I am also going to post this photo.

These jumpers were knitted by family friend Miss Banks.  Everyone in our family had a Miss Banks jumper, children and adults.  These are the itchy memories I have, but don’t we look sweet.  The one my brother is wearing is the classic Miss Banks style which I recently tried to recreate as a commission for my Aunt to give my Uncle for his birthday to replace his Miss Banks which was loved beyond repair.

Even if you don’t want to participate I would highly recommend going onto Instagram to look at all of the submissions, there are some seriously cute kids.  Just search #tweedback.
