It’s that time of the month again when we like to share with you our favourite patterns recently released onto Ravelry. For this Round Up we dug into textured and colourful knits, with also a touch of crochet and home wears. Enjoy!
First on the list are those lovely socks, Fort Grey by Fiona Alice, published in the Issue 12: Winter 2017 of Amirisu. Knitted from toe to cuff, these socks combine two types of textured stitches inspired by Fiona’s trip to the island of Guernsey. For this project any sock yarn would do, however the use of a solid shade would greatly emphasis the motifs created by the different stitches.
Designed in De Rerum Natura – Ulysse, Ryo is knitted in the round, from top to bottom, and features shoulder saddles that begins directly after the neckline and short rows. Stitches are then picked up at the front and the back before to be joined together at underarm. Panels of Caliper cables decorate the front, back and sleeves of the jumper.
Looking for a colourful, lightweight shawl to wear this spring? With its simple variation of lace and striped colour-work, the Assana Wrap ticks all the boxes. The sample shown above uses three colours, two blues – one dark, one variegated – and a white, and so only requires one ball of 4ply yarn per colour of your choice. If you like the speckles on the striped sections, we would suggest you to use the Hedgehog Fibres – Skinny Singles, LITG Fine Sock or the Uncommon Thread – BFL Fingering, for at least one of your three colours.
We’ll conclude this Round-Up with a bit of crochet and the beautiful Labyrinth Mandala Pillow by Tatsiana Kupryianchyk. Made of DK cotton yarn, these pillows look as good with two colours as they do with 6, and measure on average 39 cm in diameter. The Moya DK cotton would be a great match for that project, however if you’d like to experiment with a brighter colour palette, you could also give a go to the Shiny Happy Cotton by Wool and the Gang. The later being an Aran weight, be aware this would affect the yardage and size of your pillow.
