Do you ever get anxiety when knitting for other knitters? I recently finished this little dress for my friend Dani of Lioness Arts fame and her new wee baby. The fear was of course that she – being a knitter by trade – would spot my mistakes. She popped into the shop at the beginning of the week so I was able to gift her the dress in person. Much to my delight she said “oo that’s a lovely edging”. Knitter score!
I chose to make Sproutlette by Tanis Lavallee and Life in the Long Grass Fine Sock Semi Solid.
Knitted top down the pattern is easy to follow with a simple but clever construction. The little bodice lace detail magically appears without too much brain power needed. The edging tops it off beautifully, cute and girly. That being said, because it is quite a girly design I decided not to go too girly in colour choice. The Life in the Long Grass has some gorgeous colours, lots perfect for babies but for neutrality I decided on Coastal. A vintage looking green which I think would work for boys or girls.
I knitted the smallest size, 0-6 months so hopefully it will get some wear over autumn and winter.
