Nothing beats Brighton in May. Days are getting warmer and with the hustle and bustle of the Fringe and Brighton Festival the whole city is buzzing with a great pre-summer vibe. The sunny days have also given us new ideas about what to wear and knit this summer. Here is our top 4 of this months Ravelry releases.
- Penny by Tin Can Knits.
First pattern in this month Round Up is Penny by Tin Can Knits. This gorgeous lace jumper is knitted in the round from the bottom up. Like most Tin Can Knits patterns, sizes range from baby to adult 4XL. To keep it as cool and light as possible we would recommend using a cotton like MoYa – Cotton DK. Combined to the lace this would make for a very pleasant jumper to wear over the warmer days of the summer months.
2. Navelli by Caitlin Hunter.
Caitlin Hunter‘s latest design is this lovely 4ply top featuring a stranded motif at the hem, a boat neck and cuffed sleeves. Malabrigo Sock would work well with that project. Alternatively you could also opt for the Jamieson & Smith 2ply Jumper and make the sleeves a little longer to give it a more wintery feel.
3. Argil by Clare Lakewood.
Pom Pom Quaterly – Issue 29 is packed with amazing patterns and we particularly love this simple sleeveless top by Clare Lakewood. Argil is worked flat starting at the back hem. The front of the yoke and the neck line are worked together as one piece with the back. Stitches are then picked up along the sides of the back to knit the bottom front. Karin Oberg – Kalinka would be the perfect yarn for this pattern.
4. Brontide by Alicia Plummer.
We’ll finish this Round Up with the lovely Brontide socks by Alicia Plummer. To highlight the lace motif we would recommend using a plain sock yarn like the Coopknits – Sock Yeah!
Until Next Time…. Happy Knitting!
