Where has the summer gone? It seems to have passed by as quickly as it arrived! Whilst we will miss the hot summer days spent lounging outside, we’re also looking forward to rustic autumn knits. In this round up we’ve selected a range of projects – for those who aren’t quite ready to give up summer fibres, to those who are ready for chunky cosy projects.
Lets start things off with a stunning summer blouse that can be a transitional layering piece. The Buddleia Blouse by Retro Claude is a modernised version of a 1950s lace blouse complete with sweet flower motifs. Knit in a lace weight, we think the pastel tones of Midnatssol would be perfect for this romantic top!
The Ola Top by Irene Lin is another last minute summer knit that you can easily layer up in the cooler months. A combination of flat and round knitting, beginning with the lace back panel, this knit would be great in a linen cotton mix such as Boheme by Fonty.
Nydia by Vanessa Smith is a simple yet luxurious textured cropped knit sweater with an optional matching cowl. Knit in Sandnes Garn Alpakka for a super soft jumper that you will not want to take off!
Prepare for the cooler evenings with the MUSE cardigan by rock [not] wool. This chunky knit uses lace techniques to create a unique stitch design that will spice up any outfit. Use the newly restocked Hamelton 2 to create your own version!
Inspired by the designer’s garden, the Tyntesfield Top by Mary Henderson is a wonderful fair isle knit with floral motifs and double moss stitch detailing. Brusca by Retrosaria would be a perfect choice for this project, with it’s rustic sticky handle and rich colour palette.
We’re obsessed with this timeless cabled pullover by Ronja Hakalehto. Fabel is worked from the bottom up in sport weight yarn and we think Ulysse would be a perfect fit for this traditional knit. Try a subtly speckled neutral tone such as Bouleau for a classic jumper or choose a rich colour such a Dore for an autumnal feel.
