This past month, each member of YAK has introduced you to their summer holliday project. Eugenie has finished hers a little while ago and is ready to give you some feedback.
Being fairly new to the world of knitting – even though my Nan taught me basic knitting at the age of 6, I only really came back to it in January – I had great fun knitting the Beach Tank. Its simple design makes it such a quick project to knit, I almost completed the first half when I landed in Biarritz. By the time I left, the second half was nearly finished and I just had to seam the two pieces together when I came back to Brighton. It was so pleasurable to see how quickly everything came together!
As the Beach Tank is designed to be slightly oversized, I chose to cast on the XS to give it a tighter fit and cropped 1.5 inches off the body length to make it a bit shorter. Consequently I only had to use just over 1 and a half balls of the Shiny Happy Cotton and half a skein of the Malabrigo lace. Due to its short yardage and the fact it is so quick to make, the Beach Tank would actually be a good project to take on if you want to make a present for someone but are working on a short deadline.
Overall I am really pleased with the result, it looks exactly how I wanted, is extremely light weight and airy. I have also been test-driving it in hot weather, it’s real pleasure to wear. I would definitely consider make myself another one next summer.
Until Next Time… Happy Knitting!
